We’ve all heard that our bodies are temples, so why not decorate them? Instead of new wall art, furniture and shelves, accessorize yourself. And there is no better item to start with than rings.
For me, rings tend to be that last item that you put on to make everything about your outfit feel complete. When looking at an entire ensemble, you would think they go unnoticed, but rings can make the biggest statements.
Don’t Over Accessorize
We only have 10 fingers (hopefully), and not all of them are meant to be dressed up at the same time. Over accessorizing with rings easily takes you from cool to gaudy in a matter of moments. If you have one elaborately decorated statement ring that’s enough to take care of the rest of your fingers. Stick to decorating no more than three fingers per hand. Point is, stay away from over the top jewelry displays.
Versatile
Rings are timeless. The versatility and range that you can get from rings make them worth it. They can spruce up a casual outfit and can just as easily be worn with elegant evening attire. They’re not just a one hit wonder, rings go the distance when it comes to accessories.
Trends
There are a few trends going around when it comes to styles and ways to wear rings. The more eclectic the ring is, the better. Setting yourself apart by choosing what you want as opposed to what everyone has makes shopping that much more rewarding. Plus, when a unique item catches someones eye you’ll be racking up all of the compliments.
The midi ring, or the above the knuckle ring, is a cool spin-off of traditional ring wearing. Instead of wearing it at the base of your finger, you wear it higher up on that first knuckle segment. Midi rings are usually thinner and have a more simple design than a typical statement ring. They’re meant to catch the eye, not overwhelm. They are also aesthetically intriguing when you stack about three midi rings together on one finger. Rihanna and Beyonce are really big with this trend. The two finger ring is also another favorite of mine.
When you’re in need of a study break or are just dying for a reason to shop, get to your nearest accessory store and check out some of these rings. Forever 21 has a pretty nice and reasonably priced selection. If you’re more of an internet shopper, Etsy has amazing ring designs and Polyvore has some great statement rings as well. Happy shopping!
