Not everyone relives all the things from childhood, but UF students are determined to bring RECESS to campus next fall.
RECESS is a touring music festival featuring an entrepreneur speaker session and startup company career fair. The event is like South by Southwest for college students, Jack Shannon, the company’s co-founder said.
UF is currently in second place in RECESS’ competition to bring the festival to universities nationwide.
Scott Lombardo, a 23-year-old law and business administration graduate student, is working with his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, and UF Innovators to raise the funds for the event, which would be in September.
He said UF must raise about $50,000 to bring some of the nation’s top business leaders to speak to students in the entrepreneurial speaker session.
“We’re working with local Gainesville startups to do that and start a crowd funding campaign to reach out to interested parties,” Lombardo said.
