Gator Dining Services recently announced Pollo Tropical, along with Burger King and Papa John’s, will start accepting meal plans in Fall 2013.

A total of 10 locations including the Fresh Food Company, Gator Corner Dining Center, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Pollo Tropical, Papa John’s, Burger King, Chomp It, Croutons, Home Zone and the Camellia Court Café will accept residential, commuter, and faculty and staff meal plans, Marketing Program Manager for Gator Dining Services Jill Rodriguez wrote in an email.

“Based on the positive feedback we received when we added Moe’s Southwest Grill and Chomp It, we decided to add more locations for added value and convenience for meal plan participants,” she said.

Rodriguez said meal plans can be redeemed one lunch a day for five days a week at Pollo Tropical, Papa John’s, Croutons, Home Zone, Camellia Court Café and Chomp It.

One dinner a day can be redeemed four days per week at those five locations, excluding the Camellia Court Café.

She said the plan also allows for one meal for dinner daily after 4 p.m. at Burger King or Moe’s Southwest Grill.

Spencer Smud, a 22-year-old UF recreation programming senior, said students will take advantage of the expansion.

He particularly likes Pollo Tropical.

“I feel that a lot of students do end up passing by the Reitz, but now that they’ve made more commercialized eateries included, it’ll attract more people to the meal plan,” he said.

The seven-day open access meal plan for Fall costs $1,896, according to the Gator 1 Central website. The five-day open access meal plan for Fall costs $1,887.
