Easter is Sunday, and local churches are ready to celebrate.
The Spirit of Faith church will be holding an Easter event with a moon bounce, fire truck and free candy, said church minister Takela Vaden. It will be held at the Phillips Center for Performing Arts on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Covenant Presbyterian Church has planned an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. in its memorial garden.
Afterward, a breakfast cooked by men in the congregation will be served, followed by an Easter egg hunt for children, said church administrator Jared Ginsburg.
“We line up chairs, and we get to sit outside and watch the sunrise,” he said.
Westside Baptist Church will host a watch party for the Secret Church Simulcast, a live video streaming of a Bible study held in Birmingham, Ala. The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
“Hundreds of thousands of people will be participating in this one live Bible study from Birmingham,” said Westside worship pastor Daniel Morris.
Sunday’s events at Westside include a sunrise service at 7 a.m. and choir event at night.
The 145 members of the Westside Choir and Orchestra will be recording a live album as part of the event, “A Night of Praise: Live.”
“It’s going to be an intense weekend here at Westside,” Morris said.
