Lazy foodies — rejoice!
Gainesville2go, a local delivery service, recently began delivering orders from fast food restaurants such as Chipotle, Taco Bell and McDonald’s to customers around the city.
“These restaurants are just places a lot of our customers have requested that we deliver for, so we threw them up on our website,” said Jackson Bodiford, a manager at Gainesville2go.
Unlike most of their popular restaurants, these new offerings are unaffiliated with Gainesville2go, meaning the delivery service doesn’t have contracts with them, Bodiford said.
“With fast food restaurants, since they make the food so fast, we just email things to our drivers, and they just go through a drive-thru,” he said.
UF students seemed pleased at the idea of being able to order fast food in a simple and convenient way.
“It’s not too far from my apartment, but the delivery service would be pretty nice,” said Roshni Marballi, a 21-year-old UF psychology senior.
Gainesville2go has seen about 10 orders a day for McDonald’s, Taco Bell and Chipotle, making them about equally as popular as the other choices, Bodiford said.
Bodiford said the company is expecting a boom of customers.
Meanwhile, students like Marballi look forward to using this new service, if only sparingly.
“It just depends on how lazy I’m feeling,” she said.
