Student Government elections start today, end Wednesday

Students can cast their vote for Student Body president, vice president and treasurer today and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

They can also vote for their college or credit classification Student Senator and a non-binding referendum about the soft closing of bars.

Voters must present their Gator 1 Card or another photo ID and know their UF ID number, according to the SG website.

Supervisor of Elections Stephen Davis said all polling locations will be open at the designated hours.

Students can vote at Springs Residential Complex, Room C202; the Murphree Area Commons, Conference Room 106; McCarty B, Room 2103B; Broward Hall basement; Jennings’ First Floor Library; Bruton-Geer Hall at the UF Law School; CSE’s main room; Marston Science Library’s main room; Reitz Union, Room 366; Health Science Center, Room C2-041C; Veterinary Medicine Academic Building Education Center, Room V1-104; and near the cafe at Southwest Recreation Center.

The referendum, which gauges student opinion, asks students if they support bars and clubs to stop selling alcohol at 2 a.m. and close at 3 a.m.

Davis said in the event that a polling location malfunctions, the emergency plans will remain the same as the Fall election. Students may be directed to another location or voting hours might be extended.
