A new website — which claims to have been made by the “silent majority” — criticizes the Swamp Party and its presidential candidate.
The website www.thetruthaboutbon.org was created Saturday, according to search results from www.whois.net. The website is registered to Gracie Freewaters and at 1142 Panhellenic Drive, UF’s Zeta Tau Alpha sorority house.
However, according to the UF directory, Freewaters is not a student. The phone number registered to the site did not return a message for comment.
Swamp Party presidential candidate Christina Bonarrigo said she doesn’t think one of her Zeta sisters created the site.
“It’s a nameless person who hides behind a screen because nothing they say is true,” she said.
Swamp Party spokesman Elliot Grasso said he hadn’t seen the website until Sunday evening.
“Considering all sources are anonymous, it doesn’t seem very credible,” he said.
Bonarrigo said she isn’t worried about finding out who created it and will continue to focus on campaigning. She said she doesn’t believe the Students Party created the website and called on her opponent, Johnny Castillo, to denounce it.
Representatives of the Students Party said they had nothing to do with it.
Grier Ferguson, a Students Party spokeswoman, said she was surprised to find out about the website.
“As [the Students Party] exec slate, it would be nothing we approve,” she said.
Ferguson added that her party wants to focus on voting, not “slamming” a particular candidate.
“We don’t want it to be associated with our party,” she said.
