The Gainesville-Alachua County Drug Task Force arrested two men and recovered drugs, money and guns from a northeast Gainesville home Wednesday.
Officials charged Marcus Chatman, 26, with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Gerald Richardson, 30, with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, according to a Drug Task Force news release.
The task force — made of Gainesville Police, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, University Police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement — obtained a search warrant for 1031 NE Eighth Ave. after an investigation revealed that the house was a drug-dealing location, according to the release.
During a search, the task force and a GPD SWAT team found large amounts of marijuana, cocaine and cash, according to the release. They also recovered two firearms.
GPD spokesman Officer Ben Tobias could not provide further detail on the amount of drugs and cash the task force members recovered from the house.
The GPD Special Operations Unit also collected stolen property. Officials suspect Chatman and Richardson traded stolen items for drugs, according to the release.
At about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Chatman and Richardson were booked into the Alachua County Jail, where they remained later that night without bond.
