The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation teamed with the student-run company and blog Hello Perfect to host the first Entrepreneurs Raid the Plaza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today on the Plaza of the Americas.
This event, which is cosponsored by Student Government, will give student entrepreneurs the chance to exhibit their companies to peers and passers-by.
Because companies and businesses cannot promote themselves on campus without UF affiliation, Hello Perfect founder, center ambassador and business administration senior Alexa Carlin and her business partner, public relations senior Angela Ribbler, said they wanted to find a way for student entrepreneurs to promote themselves and network with others.
In an email, Carlin wrote she hopes the event will allow people to learn about student-run UF companies and get inspired to accomplish their dreams.
“These days one can’t wait for the phone to ring from employers given the economic situation,” the center’s director, Jamie Kraft, wrote in an email.
He also wants the event to spark “further momentum and growth in the Gainesville entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
