Card, board games coming soon to Reitz Union game room

The Student Senate unanimously passed funding for tabletop gaming last month.

Student Government will provide Delta Nu Delta, a gaming organization, with $1,133. The measure approved funds for advertising, including banner and Facebook ads, fliers and cards and games.

Delta Nu Delta President David Wasserman and treasurer Josh Cruz presented their plan at the meeting.

“The game room has been in need for revitalization for a while, in my opinion,” said Wasserman, a 22-year-old sustainability senior.

He said the games would have a shelf life of two years, and parts of the games, instead of the whole games, could be replaced. The games will be stored in the Reitz Union game room.

The organization is starting with 10 tabletop games, including Munchkin and Ticket to Ride, and plans to build up its collection.

They also plan to order classic games like Monopoly and Risk.

Cruz, a 19-year-old finance sophomore, said they plan to order the games within the next two months.

“Personally, I’m excited because we have games that all students can play,” Cruz said. “You try them out. Some you like and some you don’t. It should be fun for everyone.”
