Douglas Ray Castleberry drove about 100 miles to meet an 11-year-old girl.
Prior to the trip, Castleberry, 34, communicated with an undercover deputy, who he thought to be the girl’s father, via emails, chat room messages and phone calls. Castleberry said he wanted to engage in sexual activities with his daughter and also suggested a relationship with her, according to an ASO arrest report.
“Even if I couldn’t publicly announce it,” he wrote, “it would make me happy.”
On Wednesday, Castleberry drove from St. Marys, Ga., to meet the girl and her father in Gainesville. Instead, he found ASO deputies, who arrested him.
During a search of Castleberry and his vehicle, deputies found condoms and a portable gaming system that had about 350 images in its hard drive, some depicting child pornography.
Deputies charged Castleberry with two counts of obscene communication, possession of obscene material and using two-way communication devices to facilitate a felony, according to jail records.
At 2:39 p.m. Wednesday, officers booked Castleberry into the Alachua County Jail, where he remained that night without bond.
