At the most recent Presidential Search Committee meeting, chairman David Brown asked members to reserve the weekends of Dec. 7 through Dec. 9 and Jan. 10 through Jan. 12 for possible candidate interviews.
Search consultant Jan Greenwood said Tuesday her firm contacted 363 potential candidates who could take over once current UF President Bernie Machen steps down. As of Nov. 7, there were 19 applicants for the position. Two have since dropped out, said Dianna Morgan, chairwoman of the Marketing and Communications Subcommittee. Greenwood estimated that one to three people would apply “in the eleventh hour.”
Jamie Lewis Keith, vice president and general counsel, said the top three themes in the interview questions were the student experience and balance of academics, vision for UF becoming a top 10 public research university, and vision for meeting budget challenges.
Campus Interview Subcommittee chair Scott Nygren said each candidate will participate in faculty and open forums, where he or she will give a speech, answer questions and meet attendees.
Nygren said the open forum, which is targeted primarily at students, staff and Gainesville community members, will likely have an RSVP policy due to its size.
