Two Conservative pundits will bring their points of view to UF in the coming days.
Today, Charlie Black will talk about his experiences as John McCain’s campaign adviser in 2008 and the importance of the 2012 election. Black is also a UF alumnus, said Katy Melchiorre, UF College Republicans chairwoman.
He will also take audience questions at the event, jointly hosted by the UF College Republicans and Gators for Romney. The meet and greet will start at 4 p.m. in Reitz Union Room 284, Melchiorre said.
The 21-year-old political science and telecommunication senior said she hopes the talk will spark students’ desire to get involved this election season.
“It’s going to be informative and interesting to hear from someone who has worked on a campaign,” she said. “People should come to as many political events before an election from either party, just to be informed.”
On Tuesday, David Frum, a prominent conservative journalist and commentator, will be at Pugh Hall at 6 p.m. to discuss partisanship in Washington politics and shifts within the conservative movement, said Shelby Taylor, digital/communications director for the Bob Graham Center for Public Service.
She said Frum will sign books after the event, which will also be streamed live and then archived on the center’s website.
Frum is one of the center’s speakers selected specifically for this election season, Taylor said.
“Hopefully the audience takes away a new perspective that they perhaps haven’t thought about,” she said. “I think any time an audience can have a close-up opportunity with someone that prominent, I think that’s a great opportunity people should take advantage of.”
