When it comes to yoga, flexibility helps — both in practice and in a change of location.
Sanctuary Yoga, previously located at the Seagle Building on University Avenue, has moved downtown, now located at 530 N. Main St.
The studio has moved locations a total of three times during its 10 years of business.
The first location was at a church building, which Melissa Montilla, owner of Sanctuary Yoga, said was too big. Later, the business moved to the Seagle Building, which she said was not big enough.
“I feel like Goldilocks,” Montilla said, laughing.
At the new location, Montilla found a space that is just right.
“I’m super excited about downtown and the growth that I see,” she said. “It’s very promising.”
Amanda Culp has attended yoga classes at Sanctuary Yoga for the past eight years and supports the new location.
“It’s good, more convenient for me,” Culp said. “It’s right in the heart of things.”
Keri Johnson, a yoga teacher at the studio, said she is most looking forward to the “continued sense of community for yoga participants and practitioners.”
Along with the new location, the yoga studio is offering new programs. These classes include yoga for runners and a balancing workshop.
Montilla said Sanctuary Yoga will have the same busy schedule as in its previous location but with an increased number of workshops.
