Registration for TRiP excursions now open

UF’s Travel and Recreation Program isn’t full of hot air, but one of its Fall excursions will be.

A hot air balloon ride is one of 31 adventures TRiP is selling spots for starting at noon today. Students can register until 5 p.m. at The Outfitter in the Reitz Union.

Although registration will continue throughout the semester, spots will go quickly today, said 19-year-old geology sophomore and TRiP leader Madeline Job.

“People start lining up at about 11:30 a.m.,” she said. “They sell quickly; it’s a constant flow.”

Prices range from $11 to $270 depending on each trip’s activities, travel expenses and length, Job said. Multiday trips average about $100, and day trips average about $30. Prices include transportation and food. About 10 people and two leaders attend each trip.

Zac Serota, a 19-year-old industrial and systems engineering sophomore, went hiking on Cumberland Island with TRiP last year. He plans to register for events this semester.

“The best thing about activities on the trips are that there aren’t usually too many things etched in stone, so to speak,” Serota said. “It is truly an adventure, but time is never wasted.”
