The deadline for the Gainesville Photography Contest is Sunday.
Participants can submit up to 10 photographs, according to the contest rules posted on the City of Gainesville website. Entries should be composed according to the contest theme, which is “My Gainesville is...” The rules state the photos should represent Gainesville’s culture beyond UF.
“This contest brings the community together,” contest organizer Laura Rawson said, “and makes people want to get involved with the government while having fun because, as you can imagine, government-sponsored activities are not always the most fun thing to do.”
The photographs must be submitted electronically via the City of Gainesville website, the city’s Flickr group or email. Submissions should include the photograph, the location, the photographer’s name and contact information.
Photos must be submitted by midnight on the due date. However, if 500 photographs are already submitted, the contest may close sooner.
The grand prize does not include money due to budget limitations, Rawson said. The winner’s photograph, along with the other finalists’ photos, will be displayed in a photo exhibit inside the Hippodrome State Theater in 2013.
