Archer man arrested, charged with molesting 5-year-old girl

An investigation by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of an Archer man accused of molesting a 5-year-old child.

Police arrested David Gerald Evans Jr., 46, of 9526 SW 132nd St., and charged him on Friday with child molestation, according to an ASO arrest report.

On Aug. 26, UF’s Child Protection Team, conducted an interview with the female child, who told interviewers Evans inappropriately touched her while she rode along with him in his golf cart on Aug. 25.

On Friday, Evans talked with detectives at the sheriff’s office.

During the interview, Evans admitted to police he touched the child and said he had been drinking that day.

Police arrested Evans at 11:20 a.m. Friday and booked him into the Alachua County Jail later that day.

In May, ASO arrested and charged Evans with domestic battery by strangulation, according to Alachua County Clerk of Courts.

As of Monday night, Evans remained in jail with a bond set at $250,000.
