Gainesville Police got a two-for-one deal Tuesday when they arrested Raymond Greenberg Jr.

Greenberg, 31, of 1011 NW 23rd Ave., was arrested twice in one day for committing two different crimes: one involving theft at an office store and the other involving a domestic dispute.

He was first arrested after an officer recognized him as a suspect in an earlier case involving his sister.

According to a GPD arrest report, the officer saw Greenberg leaving an Office Depot at 1015 NW 13th St.

The officer reported Greenberg had a “bulge in his waistband,” which turned out to be three cans of stolen Ativa Cleaning Duster, according to the report.

Greenberg told police he stole the cans because he is a “huffer,” or someone who inhales toxic fumes to get high.

According to the report, the officer caught Greenberg before employees at Office Depot realized he stole the cans from the store.

Greenberg later said he also stole cans from the store Monday.

After the first officer caught him, a second officer arrested Greenberg for a domestic battery and assault case involving his sister.

Greenberg threatened her with a 10-pound dumbbell Tuesday during an argument at her house, according to the report.

As the argument heated up, the woman told Greenberg to get out of her house. He headed for the door, but he turned around and started to charge at her.

The woman fell to the ground and curled up in a ball. Greenberg stood over her holding the dumbbell.

“I will knock your teeth down your throat,” Greenberg said, according to the report.

Greenberg’s sister also told police the two were arguing over a cigarette Sunday. When the argument escalated, the woman fled and locked herself in her bathroom.

Greenberg kicked and hit the door until it cracked. When she opened the door, Greenberg slammed her head into the door, which caused a one-inch cut on her eyebrow.

He stopped hitting her and the door when she said she would give him a cigarette, according to the report.

He was charged with misdemeanors, including theft, criminal mischief and battery. He was also charged with aggravated assault, which is a third-degree felony.

As of Wednesday night, Greenberg is in Alachua County Jail with bond set at $20,000.
