According to a press release from Pat Lavery of Glory Days Presents!, Double Down Live, located at 210 SW Second Ave., is changing its name to HIGH DIVE. Everything about the music venue including, music variety, staff and ownership will stay the same. Even the logo is similar to the original.
In March, the Gainesville venue was sent a cease and desist order from a Las Vegas bar “Double Down Saloon,” which owns the trademark on the name. To avoid legal conflict, ownership decided that a name change would be the easier route.
High Dive was chosen because the bar is often labeled as a neighborhood dive bar paired with its high standards of providing service.
The new name came at the one year anniversary of the venue. It will be celebrating this week with a series of concerts. For a full list of upcoming shows, visit www.HighDiveGville.com.
