Soon, students may be able to enjoy a meal cooked and served out of a food truck on UF’s campus.
UF Gator Dining Services sent out an email to students that announced a food truck would be a new dining option on campus.
The email included a survey asking students what cuisine, location and time slot they would prefer.
So far, survey results indicate students want a food truck serving Latin cuisine near Turlington Plaza and Plaza of the Americas, said Jill Rodriguez, marketing program manager for Gator Dining Services.
Rodriguez said in an email that one food truck will make its debut in the fall.
“The opportunity to introduce a mobile food truck on campus allows us to reach more students, faculty and staff,” she said.
The food trucks would only complement existing dining options on campus, not take away their customers, Rodriguez said.
Justin Correll, a UF electrical engineering junior, said he would want Latin American cuisine, especially around lunchtime. Although he’d never heard of a food truck, he wants to try it.
“I try to eat at home to save money, but maybe if it was reasonably priced, like $4 or $5, I’d try it,” he said.
