Police have found a Gainesville High School student who had been missing since May 25.

Marissa Jade DeVito, 16, was found in one of her classmates’ apartments Friday by a GHS school resource officer.

DeVito spoke to Jordan Keeter, 18, during lunch at school May 25 and asked him if she could stay at his place over the weekend, said GPD Officer Nate Ellis, GHS school resource officer.

He said DeVito said she never intended the stay to last as long as it did.

One officer spent three days working to find her.

Ellis found DeVito at Keeter’s apartment in southwest Gainesville after he was tipped off by a school resource officer at Buchholz High School.

The BHS school resource officer was told by an Alachua County Sheriff’s officer who was given a note by an anonymous woman while he was eating lunch.

Ellis said she ran away because of issues with her father.

Police said they were able to determine that she was at Keeter’s apartment of her own free will.

As of Friday, there were no outstanding charges, and DeVito is with her father again.
