A UF student was chosen to receive one of 150 scholarships to attend the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.

David F. Muir V, a 22-year-old electrical engineering senior, won the scholarship after submitting his project proposal that would connect iPhones to other electronics using Bluetooth. The scholarship covers the $1,599 conference ticket.

At the June 11 to June 15 conference in San Francisco, Muir will work with Apple Inc.’s engineers to improve his programming skills.

The convention features more than 100 sessions taught by Apple engineers along with hands-on labs, according to the Apple website.

Muir plans to apply what he will learn to his job as senior software engineer and project manager with Totuit, a startup with Florida Innovation Hub at UF.

Jordan Johnson, president and co-founder of Totuit, said the conference will be invaluable for Muir.

“I would always go online and try to watch the videos,” Muir said. “Now I get to go to one live, which is pretty cool.”
