An unidentified man shot two people Sunday night after an argument.

The man shot a woman and a man with a pistol in Tent City at 10:51 p.m. on Sunday.

Tent City is located around 100 SE 11th Ave.

Detectives are still searching for the suspect.

Police described him as a black man about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build.

He was reported to be wearing all black clothing at the time.

The suspect confronted the victims on a trail near Tent City, an area where many homeless people live, according to Sgt. Tscharna Senn, acting spokeswoman for Gainesville Police Department.

After an argument, the suspect shot both the man and the woman several times.

Police have not identified either of the victims.

The male victim was transported to Shands at UF. He was in a critical condition but stable as of Monday afternoon, Senn said.

The female victim did not have any life-threatening injuries, she said.

Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 372-STOP or the GPD Detectives Bureau at 393-7670.
