Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is set to perform at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts tonight in “An Evening with Jeff Dunham.”
Dunham and his entourage of puppet characters will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. with all new material.
Tickets are $47.50 and can be purchased by visiting the Phillips Center box office, calling the box office or visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
There is no difference in price for students’ tickets.
Dunham is known for his four Comedy Central television specials and is working on a fifth.
“The cool thing about his show in Gainesville is that the audience will get a sneak peek of the taping of his new Comedy Central special,” said Debbie Keller, Dunham’s publicist.
He also recently appeared on the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Celebrities list.
Dunham is renting out the facilities, said Matt Cox, operations director of UF Performing Arts. The performance is not affiliated with any UF group.
Puppets appearing with Dunham will include Walter the grumpy retiree; Achmed the dead terrorist; Achmed Junior; the beer-fueled Bubba J; the manic purple Peanut and Peanut’s own ventriloquist dummy, according to the press release.
