Erin Andrews, ESPN sportscaster and UF graduate, will share her story at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday evening.

Accent Speakers Bureau and the Women’s Student Association are teaming up to host the free event, which will begin at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m., and seating is first-come, first-served.

Telecommunication sophomore Tori Petry, 19, said she looks to Andrews as an example of breaking the stereotype that claims sports are for men. Petry said she hopes to become a sideline reporter or sports anchor.

Accent chairman Corey Portnoy said Andrews’ ties to UF make her a great fit as a speaker.

In addition to being a sportscaster and journalist for ESPN, Andrews served as co-host of ESPN’s “College GameDay” in 2011. She was also a contributor to Good Morning America on ABC.

Andrews will receive $15,000 to speak and answer questions from the audience.

Women’s Student Association President Kathy Keeter said Andrews ties into the overall theme of this year’s Women’s History Month, “Making History Ours,” and hopes female students will feel empowered after hearing her speak.
