UF’s Office of Academic Support wants to help students feel more prepared about the process of considering and applying for graduate school.

OAS will host “Graduate School Mini Conference: Everything You Want to Know” from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Ustler Hall.

The conference is free for all students, but space is limited to 75 spots.

“We decided to start preparing students for life after graduating with an undergraduate degree,” said Joe Johnson, assistant director of OAS. “We thought this would be a good way to develop the peer mentors in our office and students at UF.”

The conference will consist of two hours of breakout sessions that include presentations about choosing the right graduate school, the politics of graduate school, tokenism in graduate school programs and basic knowledge about graduate school.

The conference will provide lunch and a panel discussion with graduate students and faculty.

Johnson said about 50 spots are still available.

“The program is free and lunch is free,” Johnson said. “The only thing that students have to spend is time.”

For more information or to RSVP, contact Joe Johnson at 352-392-0786 or at j6johnson8@ufl.edu.
