Two UF graduates were selected to intern at the White House.
UF graduate Eric Glickman and Levin College of Law graduate Anushree Nakkana will begin their unpaid internships this spring.
The internships will be full-time at 40 hours a week.
UF spokesman Steve Orlando said he doesn’t remember a student being selected for a White House internship during the past few years.
“We’re always proud to see our grads do well,” he said.
The competitive program accepted 144 spring interns from across the country.
The White House accepts those who have graduated within two years of the start of the program from an undergraduate or graduate school.
Glickman and Nakkana were also the only recent Florida public university graduates to be accepted into the program. The White House also selected Kelson Nisbett from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which has a campus in Daytona Beach.
Interns accepted to the program could intern with the White House’s Communications Department, Office of Legislative Affairs, The Office of the First Lady, The Office of White House Counsel or 12 others.
No matter which office the graduates intern with, Orlando said he is glad to see Gators in the national spotlight.
“You find UF grads in high-profile leadership positions all over the world,” he said. “It’s good to see two more added to those ranks.”
