A California man was arrested early Thursday morning after police said he kicked down a door and tried to rip out another man’s earrings.
Adoniyah Israel, 21, was arrested at 2:11 a.m. and was charged with assault during a burglary and simple domestic battery. Police said Israel slapped the mother of his child and assaulted the man whose apartment she was visiting.
According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Israel arrived at the unidentified man’s residence and began to argue with the mother of Israel’s child.
During the argument, authorities said Israel slammed the woman’s head into a screen door and slapped her in the face with an open hand. The owner of the house asked Israel to leave.
Israel came back later and kicked the front door of the apartment so hard it split in half, according to the report. Israel then entered the apartment and attacked the man, whom Israel’s ex was visiting.
Israel grabbed the man’s earrings and tried to rip them out, causing the male victim to bleed from the earlobes.
Neighbors, including Michael Titone, called police. Titone said this incident is one of many at the house.
“Everyone on the block knows them,” Titone, a UF alumni, said. “I heard banging like someone was kicking a door in, screaming and smacking.”
He said he saw a man chasing a woman across the street as she screamed, “You’re crazy!”
Israel remained in prison as of 2:40 p.m. Thursday. His bond has been set at $30,000.
