Glitch opens University of Florida basketball game to all students

All UF students will be allowed into tonight's men's basketball game due to a technical difficulty.

The Gators Student Ticket Office accidentally sent an email Monday that thanked recipients for registering for the game, which is versus Auburn University at 7 p.m. in the O'Connell Center.

But not everyone who received the email registered for tickets.

The email was sent to more students than anticipated, University Athletic Association Assistant Athletics Director Mark Gajda wrote in an email. The email went out to those who were in the men's basketball student ticket database.

A correction email was sent out at about 9 p.m.

To avoid confusion, the office will change its entry policy for this game. Students who want to attend tonight's game do not have to be registered, according to the email.

To enter, a student must be enrolled for at least one UF credit hour and bring his or her Gator 1 Card to Gate 3 when gates open at 5 p.m.

The error happened in the editing process, which the office is reworking to ensure this type of mistake doesn't happen again, according to an email from Travis Leyndyke, the office's assistant director.

"We hope to see a full student section and are prepared to expand the student section in the third level to avoid overcrowding," Leyndyke wrote.
