The Unite Party will publicly announce its presidential candidate for Student Government Spring Elections today.
At 12:35 p.m. on the Reitz Union North Lawn, a member of the Unite Party will announce his or her candidacy.
The Unite Party hopes to announce the treasurer and vice presidential candidates Wednesday.
"We want the [presidential candidate] to have adequate time to hold interviews," Unite Party spokeswoman Christina Bonarrigo said.
The presidential candidate will interview applicants for the other two positions and make the final selection.
The presidential and vice presidential candidates run on the same ticket, and all three candidates are from the same party, she said.
Students Party Sen. Carly Wilson said her party has not yet decided on a candidate.
Qualifying and slating don't end until Tuesday, and the party wants to encourage any qualified student to apply, she said.
Qualifying determines whether a candidate is qualified for the job. Students can interview with a political party to have the party's support as its slated candidate.
Wilson said when a Students Party candidate is chosen, he or she will be announced by party members who will talk with different organizations about the candidate.
"We don't pay much heed to the actual announcement," she said.
