A man is in critical condition after his car crashed deep in the woods of Paynes Prairie on Friday morning.
The man's identity and age have not been released, but he may have suffered a heart attack while driving south on Williston Road. Gainesville Fire Rescue received a call at about 7:40 a.m. reporting that a navy Jeep Liberty crossed several lanes before heading into the woods, according to a press release.
No other cars or people were involved.
When GFR found the man in his sports utility vehicle, he was experiencing cardiac arrest. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him, and he was later taken to Shands at UF.
This is a developing story. Check back later for more information.
