When UF student Marshall Swing told an inquiring stranger he didn't have any money Saturday night, he was punched in the face, according to Gainesville Police Department.
Cody Seltzer, 19, was charged with robbery and kidnapping with the intention to force the victim to commit a felony. Seltzer has been arrested four times since October, three times in Hillsborough County.
Seltzer was still at Alachua County Jail on Sunday night in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
Swing was at 600 W University Ave. when Seltzer punched and kicked him in the leg at 9:15 p.m. Seltzer then forced him to walk with him, according to police.
Seltzer yelled at Swing along the way, telling him he would be buying Seltzer beer at a nearby store. After the two walked about one block east, officer Sandy Teasley arrested Seltzer.
Swing, who told Teasley he feared for his life, is studying theatre and German studies, according to his Facebook page. He did not return calls seeking comment Sunday night.
In October, Seltzer was arrested twice in Hillsborough County: once for possession of an open container and again for criminal mischief. He also charged with grand theft and resisting arrest in November.
