To commemorate the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., a UF committee will spend the rest of January highlighting his core values.
The UF MLK Celebration Steering Committee, in collaboration with UF Multicultural & Diversity Affairs, will kick off its fifth-annual UF MLK Celebration on Monday.
The month will include a talk by Danny Glover, activist and actor. His talk, "A Night with Danny Glover," will be Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
About 40 student organizations and academic departments will be involved in this year's celebration, including the African American Studies Program, GatorNights! and the Office of the Provost, said Jarrod Cruz, chairman of the MLK Celebration Steering Committee.
The campuswide celebration will end Jan. 31.
All events are free and open to the public, with the exception of a trip to Atlanta.
"We want to give students the opportunity to see how they will be leaving their legacy at the university and see how they will be making the greatest impact," Cruz said.
