On Day 2 of the Isleworth Invitational, the Gators took a significant dip.

Florida went 17-over Monday at the par-72, 7,544-yard Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Windermere, dropping three spots on the leaderboard to ninth place. The Gators have a two-day score of 600 (295-305, +24).

Texas (-2) leads the 15-team field, while LSU trails 10 shots back. North Florida sits in third at 11-over.

A tournament win looks out of reach for the Gators, but coach Buddy Alexander said he hopes his team can put together a good final round in its final tournament of the fall season.

“It was a tough day for us out there today,” he said. “We didn’t play particularly well and we had too many big numbers and to be competitive you just can’t have those, but we’ll get better. Hopefully we can ... finish in the upper half of this good field.”

Following a disappointing first round when he posted seven bogeys, junior Tyler McCumber returned to form. After posting a bogey and double bogey on holes three and five, respectively, McCumber fired three birdies on his back nine to finish his second day with a respectable 1-over 73.

Junior T.J. Vogel finished his day 3-over and in an eight-way tie for 23rd individually. Vogel, who is 5-over for the event, sits 11 shots back.

UF’s freshmen were a colossal success during the first round, but they melted down Monday. J.D. Tomlinson and Eric Banks each went +8 after making a combined nine bogeys and four double bogeys.
