The Building Construction Career Fair invited students and recruiters to mingle from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
The fair has changed little since previous years, said Kim Stanley, the Rinker School of Building Construction's job placement coordinator.
However, the number of recruiters that attended decreased to 43 this year from 47 last year, and Stanley said student turnout seemed lower this year, too, but she did not know exact numbers.
"It's the lowest number of companies we've had, but more people are hiring full time," Stanley said. "[There will be] a huge job placement push in two years, and we're not going to have enough students."
Brian Bleakly, a recruiter from The Shaw Group, also spoke positively about the future of the construction industry.
"[In] any economy that's brought back up, it's done through construction," Bleakly said.
