Band of the week with an unusual name: !!!

Everyone's heard of the African languages that contain clicking noises, right?

Well, what about the band?

!!!, commonly pronounced chk chk chk, isn't from Africa, but rather Sacramento, California. Regardless, the name is fun to say.

It was inspired by the subtitle from an 80s cult film, "The Gods Must Be Crazy," which is about an African tribe that has no idea the rest of the world exists.

The dance-punk band has been going strong since 1996 and has only recently stopped for a break from its most recent tour.

One of the band's most notable performances was when it opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in a 2006 tour of the UK.

The band is unconventionally large, consisting of eight current members. Most are from two other bands, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. The two bands toured together and combined to make !!! a reality.

One of the better known members is Tyler Pope, who wrote music for CAKE and played with LCD Soundsystem.

The band has recorded four indie albums together and another four EPs on the side.

While mainly based on the West Coast, the band does tour all over the country.

If you enjoy Daft Punk or Spoon, I would suggest you give !!! a listen.
