In the first week of September, Gainesville and Tallahassee-founded company Party Degree launched its new website, PartyDegree.com.

The site provides those in Gainesville and Tallahassee with deals, including discounts on concert tickets, bar tabs and study packages.

"Initially we had a plan for PartyDegree.com to be a resource for college students with information about events," said James Dieterle, the co-founder of Party Degree and PartyDegree.com. "Then we saw the rise of live shows and the rise of marketing like Groupon and LivingSocial. We wanted to combine both of those concepts."

In 2009, the company was founded by students from UF and Florida State University who had the idea of more fun, less money.

Party Degree gets the word out about its deals through its website, email list and social media.

As the company grew, it was able to transition into throwing concerts.

Party Degree is one of the promotional companies that has booked Laidback Luke to perform at the Florida Theatre tonight.

After selling out its featured deal for the Laidback Luke tickets, Party Degree has decided to include 25 deals for its upcoming concert featuring Big Sean on Thursday, Sept. 29.

The deal will include a VIP ticket to the show, allowing buyers to have a front row viewing of the performance.

The value of the ticket is $30, but the limited number will be sold for $20.

Concerts will be most limited on deals where there are between 25 and 50 tickets available to purchase.

Other deals on food and bar tabs will be available in unlimited amounts.

Dieterle said multiple T-shirt companies and nightclubs in Gainesville have already contacted the company.

However, initial deals will be tailored around specific events.

"When we offer discounts on tickets, we'll offer things to supplement them," he said. "We'll do something with a neon store for accessories for the concert and a pizza place right next to the concert, something late night - things like that to benefit people who are already out."

Any merchant can fill out a form to be considered for a deal on the website.

Upcoming deals will focus on food and apparel discounts.

"The concept is providing deals focusing on the ages of 18 to 24," Dieterle said. "We don't want to target it just to college students because of our plans for expansion."

The website also offers similar discounts for Tallahassee residents and has plans to launch Orlando and Miami deals in the near future.
