UF alumnus and noted journalist Jeff Klinkenberg will speak on the changing landscape of Florida culture at 6 p.m. Monday in the Pugh Hall ocora.
A columnist at the St. Petersburg Times since 1977, Klinkenberg writes about the people who make the state distinctive.
Klinkenberg, who can be found in UF Journalism College's Hall of Fame, is a two-time winner of the Paul Hansell Distinguished Journalism Award. Each year, the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors gives the award to the writer it believes has the best body of work. It is considered the highest honor in state journalism.
The discussion kicks off a series of four talks titled "Next Florida" and is co-sponsored by the Bob Graham Center for Public Service and the College of Journalism and Communications.
"We're looking at where Florida is headed with the changes in emerging culture, politics and the economy," said Gail Sasnett, assistant director for public programs of the Bob Graham Center for Public Service.
Following the discussion will be a reception with free food and the opportunity to talk with Klinkenberg.
Shelby Taylor, digital communications director for the Bob Graham Center for Public Service, said this Florida-specific series will address the past, current and future changes Florida has seen.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will also be streamed live from bobgrahamcenter.ufl.edu.
