Students who frequently attend UF sporting events will now be rewarded with free prizes.
Beginning with Friday’s volleyball game against Boston College, students can join the Rowdy Reptiles, a new student rewards program sponsored by the UF Athletic Association and State Farm insurance company.
All undergraduate, graduate and professional school students are eligible to join the free program.
At each eligible sporting event, there will be a booth where students can scan their Gator 1 Cards and receive points. Once a student accumulates a certain level of points, he or she will receive a prize, such as a Gators hat, a T-shirt or a behind-the-scenes tour of one of the Gators athletic facilities.
Each sporting event counts for a different number of points.
However, students cannot receive points for attending football games because tracking that attendance activity would be too difficult, said Meghan Fitzgerald, marketing director for Gator Athletics.
Sophomore aerospace engineering sophomore Deidre Cheeves said she plans to join Rowdy Reptiles.
“I already go to pretty much every sporting event possible,” Cheeves said.
