The UF student senate voted Tuesday to further the defining of online voting and stall the revision of UF Student Government's financial codes.

UF student senate bill 2011-1060 revises the 800 codes which label all general financial activities that take place in UF's Student Government.

The bill has been out for four weeks and will be out for a fifth indecisive week after being tabled at Tuesday's senate meeting.

"Senator Schein, I wanted to thank you for not talking to me beforehand before taking the bill off the record," said T.J. Villamil, UF Student Body treasurer and author of the bill. "I would like a little bit more respect next time if you could grant me some, thank you."

Villamil asked the senators to come to him with any questions or problems in regard to the bill well before the Senate meeting starts, because to not do so is "a little disrespectful," he said.

"Always respect those that have come before you, I think that's important, you guys have a great day, go Gators," Villamil said, as he closed his remarks.

UF's Student Government constitutional statutes help to define and make rules for all things related to Student Government.

The 700 codes, also known as the SG Election Codes, deal with how students participate in SG elections and how the election itself runs.

The definition of Internet online voting, according to the UF student senate bill 2011-1059 is, "a voting system that allows voters to cast ballots from any and all devices connected to the internet, with the exception of devices used for Secure Location Electronic Voting."

This amendment makes Internet online voting unconstitutional and unable to be used in SG elections.
