Tonight marks the most important event of the summer for Florida
Gators football recruiting. An estimated 200 high school players
will take the field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for the
seventh-annual Friday Night Lights prospect camp.
The
Urban Meyer-bred tradition has grown into one of the nation’s
largest showcases for high school football players, and this year
will be no different. Florida will host at least four five-star
recruits including Tampa athlete Nelson Agholor, Olney, Md.,
receiver Stefon Diggs and Ramsey, N.J., defensive end Darius
Hamilton.
Friday Night Lights will also be a good chance to get a first
glimpse at upcoming top 2013 and 2014 prospects.
Over the past two years, the event has resulted in three on-spot
oral commitments for the Gators.
The
event begins tonight at 7 p.m. and features combine workouts and
one-on-one drills. The camp is free and open to the public.
