First it was Mellow Mushroom.
Then it was the ill-fated Anthony's Wood Fired Pizza.
Last week, the restaurant space at 1209 W. University Ave. was officially reincarnated as Endzone Gainesville.
Endzone is a sports bar that screams Gators spirit from inside and out.
The orange and blue restaurant highlights everything UF from past to present.
One table is Tim Tebow-themed, and another table features every UF president.
Endzone, is a place where everyone can have fun regardless of their age, said owner Daniel Myara.
"I'm trying to make a place where people can hang out, eat, dance and meet friends," he said.
Myara owns a sports bar in Daytona and decided to open a new one in Gainesville since his son is a UF student.
The sports bar will be open every day from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m.
No cover will be charged to enter.
The menu contains typical bar food, including hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and sandwiches.
Endzone also provides a new food challenge for Gainesville. Customers can participate in the Gator Cup Burger Challenge. If the two-pound burger is finished, the customer will receive a T-shirt and a place on the in-house trophy.
There is also a list of drinks and specials for those who are 21 and older. Instead of having a specific night like some bars in Gainesville, Myara said there will be specials every night.
"Every night will be our night," he said.
The waitresses are also an integral part of the restaurant's atmosphere, as they are encouraged to dance for and socialize with customers.
