In Friday’s edition of the Alligator, it was reported that next year’s cost of UF campus scooter decals will increase 50 percent and car decals by $10, amounting to a $72-a-semester and $144 flat-fee for a year, no matter what kind of vehicle you drive.

Scott Fox, director of UF Transportation and Parking Services, said student decals will be more expensive because his department, which does not receive university or state funding, needs to make more money so it can pay its bills.

In case you are interested, Scott Fox received more than $85,400 in salary from the university in 2010.

That’s an increase of more than $13,000 from the salary he made in 2009.

I think it’s about time university employees start taking pay cuts instead of raises when they need more money. They should stop passing their financial woes onto students.

It’s worth your time to check out other UF employee salaries for years 2010 and 2009 at: ir.ufl.edu/factbook/v-14_salaries.pdf and at collegiatetimes.com/databases/salaries/university-of-florida.
