Tucker Obie McCarty, a UF student from St. Augustine, died Saturday night in Columbia County when his truck swerved off the road and flipped. He was 21 years old.
McCarty was a junior majoring in food science and human nutrition. He graduated from Pedro Menendez High School in St. Augustine.
McCarty and a friend were headed back to Gainesville after a fishing trip. His friend survived the crash with minor injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
A visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Johns Family Funeral Home in St. Augustine. The funeral will be Thursday at Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine at 10 a.m.
