It’s up to a Gainesville City Commission
committee to decide whether Bruce Baber can have his business
back.
After a series of approvals and disapprovals
earlier this year, the city decided that Baber wasn’t allowed to
sit dogs in his house, which he had been doing for his income since
the 1980s.
He was upset at the neighbors who filed the
appeal that banned his business, but he’s trying to work past
that.
For now, he’s walking dogs for $5 per dog, per
walk, and he’s adopted a dog, Abbey. She keeps him company in his
now-quiet house.
The committee, the Community Development
Committee, will decide whether to pass along a proposal to change a
city code to allow pet businesses to be run from houses. The
proposal limits the number and types of animals that could be kept
for pay.
