February 14, 1964: UF students are surprise stars when the  production crew for “Candid Camera” hits campus. A fake invite to have dinner with President Reitz and sudden splashes from sprinklers comprised a few of the pranks caught on tape during the week of the visit.

February 14, 1968: Dr. James Cade, the man behind Gatorade, announces he’s created a companion beverage called Gator-Go. The drink is designed as a pregame beverage that helps muscles store carbohydrates “to keep the player’s endurance up.”

Gator-Go, which is similar in texture to milk, comes in malt, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and rum-maple.

February 15, 1994: Gainesville gets some closure as Danny Rolling pleads guilty to the murder of five college students, about three and a half years after the killings.

“I’ve been running from one thing or another,” he said. “Problems at home or with the law. Some things you just can’t run from — this is one of them.”
