Game journalists should share their thoughts.
If stories are the bridge between writers and their audience,
opinions are the truss that strengthens it.
Opinions could be sectioned off at the bottom
of the article. They could be blogged and linked to from the main
news article.
I’m not asking for an overhaul of the
industry. As a connoisseur of game-related media, I enjoy it.
Just ask my girlfriend. When I’m tired of
grinding in “Borderlands,” I’m perusing game sites, forums and
magazines. I’m an addict, and I’m thankful that she hasn't dumped
my neglectful, neurotic a--.
I’m frustrated because my expectations of the
field are sky high, and I see professionals ignoring the issues
that stress me out.
But I can appreciate that game journalism is
this “Easy Rider” rebel in a tie-and-suit, straight-laced world. I
guess if freedom is the open road, let me catch a ride.
