Grooveshark to team up with Pledge 5 for upcoming poker charity drive

In keeping with its partnership, Grooveshark will assist the Pledge 5 Foundation in their upcoming poker charity drive to benefit St. Francis House.

The “Taking It Off for Charity” event will be held Jan. 28 at The Vault NightClub.

With a clothing donation and the purchase of a $15 VIP wristband, the event gives attendees access to free wings and beer, a tournament T-shirt and participation in a raffle.

According to the event’s website, Grooveshark will be donating Grooveshark VIP memberships as a raffle prize at the event.

For Pledge 5, which relies greatly on its co-sponsorships in order to host its charity events, the partnership has been a great success.

“Grooveshark is made up of like-minded and community-minded individuals,” said Ben Fox, creative director of the Pledge 5 foundation. “These entrepreneurs represent the future of business in America. “

Pledge 5, a nonprofit foundation that organizes community events and charity drives in support of a variety of local charities in need, paired with the website fewer than eight months ago, said Ben Kilmer, a member of the business development team at Grooveshark.

This partnership has thus far benefited both parties involved.

“We are a company with growing resources that many nonprofits don’t have. We want to use these resources for a greater good,” Kilmer said.

Pledge 5 partnered with other sponsors as a means to increase its ability to benefit local charities in need within the  community.

The Pledge 5 goal is to make it possible for all people to help their community by hosting and organizing drives, said Jason Bowman, founder and president of Pledge 5.

The name “Pledge 5” refers to the pledge the foundation asks its volunteers to make: five hours of community service that can even be achieved through helping out with a Pledge 5 event.

“We believe in the motto ‘Give a handful, as much as you can,’” Bowman said. “Every bit helps.”
