Dance Marathon at UF is taking a new approach to raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network this year.
In previous years, 725 students involved with a campus organization danced 26.2 hours at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. This year, Dance Marathon will open 75 more spots for individual dancers to participate without being affiliated with a campus group.
“This new approach will ultimately raise an extra $15,000,” said Cait Feroleto, the Dance Marathon public relations chairwoman.
“Dance Marathon’s main concern for now is to make students aware that they can participate in such an outstanding event, even if they are not a part of an organization,” Feroleto said.
To participate, individuals must sign up and raise $200.
Students who plan on registering as individual dancers can sign up on the Dance Marathon website, www.floridadm.org. Registration opens Wednesday.
