UF’s Ad Society has taken advantage of the booming applications market for iPhones, iPods, iPads and the iTouch by creating its own free Ad Society app.
Ad Society, UF’s chapter of the American Advertising Federation, provides its members with experience, professional involvement and career training for a career in advertising.
“We wanted a way to keep more members actively involved and be able to check what is going on if they weren’t near a computer,” said Doug Nelson, the internal productions director for Ad Society.
The application will allow members and non-members access to information about Ad Society.
Everything from mission statements and the events calendar to blog posts and pictures are a touch away.
“Everything is so instant these days,” said Dayana Falcon, who is the vice president internal for the university’s Ad Society. “And this application will allow members to opt in at their convenience without being bombarded by e-mails for important updates, and possibly landing the next job that will jump start their career in advertising.”
“We wanted to stay relevant with the numerous applications being created daily and felt that our club should be on the cutting edge for technology,” Nelson said.
